ESCO bucket teeth failure analysis

Bucket teeth are important parts of excavators, similar to our human teeth, but also vulnerable parts. The utility model is a combined bucket tooth composed of a tooth base and a tooth tip, which is connected by a pin shaft. Because the wear failure part of bucket teeth is mostly the tip of the teeth, so the failure bucket teeth can only be replaced by the tip.
Because the working environment and conditions of excavators equipped with bucket teeth are mostly very bad, the failure of bucket teeth is generally characterized by wear and baldness, while a few of them will break, so they belong to parts which are easy to wear and consume. The bucket teeth of excavator are cantilever beam structure. During construction, the tip of bucket teeth is inserted into the material pile. When the bucket teeth rotate, the material is loaded into the bucket. When the bucket teeth are in contact with the material, they have certain impact. The bucket teeth must bear bending moment in the process of loading, so they wear and tear for a long time in the whole process of using, and then fail.
The bucket teeth face contacts with the excavated object, and the force is different at different working stages in a complete excavation process. When the tooth tip first contacts the surface of the material, the bucket tip is strongly impacted because of its faster speed. If the yield strength of bucket teeth is low, plastic deformation will occur at the tip. With the increase of excavation depth, the force of bucket teeth will change. When the bucket teeth cut the material, the bucket teeth move relative to the material, which produces a large positive extrusion force on the surface, thus generating a large friction between the bucket teeth working face and the material. If the material is hard rock, concrete and so on, the friction force will be great. The repeated action of this process results in different degrees of surface wear and tear on the bucket teeth working face, which leads to deep furrows. The positive pressure of front working face is obviously greater than that of rear working face. The front working face is worn seriously. It can be judged that the positive pressure and friction are the main external mechanical factors of bucket teeth failure, and play a major role in the process of failure.
At the same time, the driver of excavator should pay attention to the angle of excavation during operation. When excavating, the bucket teeth are vertical to the working face, or the dip angle is not more than 120 degrees, so as to avoid breaking the bucket teeth due to the excessive dip angle. Also pay attention not to swing the excavating arm left and right in the case of greater resistance, which will cause the bucket teeth and the teeth seat to break because of the excessive left and right force, because most types of bucket teeth mechanical design principle, do not consider the left and right force design.
